There are few jewelry boxes that would be more interesting to rifle through than Princess Margaret’s. In addition to access to any number of royal jewels, the famously glamorous princess had impressive baubles of her own, including a 1925 Art Deco pearl and diamond bracelet by Cartier, which she wore for her 19th birthday portrait, photographed by Cecil Beaton. The bracelet is hitting the auction block on September 14 through London auction house Dix Noonan Webb.

A double-strand of cultured pearls with a diamond clasp set in platinum, engraved “M” for Margaret and stamped “M” for Mikimoto and “P’ for platinum, it comes in its original box with a certificate of provenance from Kensington Palace, signed June 13, 2006. The Art Deco piece originally sold in the Christie’s auction Collection of Her Royal Highness, The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Volume I: Jewellery and Fabergé. It is expected to fetch upwards of $55,000 at this auction although that may be a low estimate—in 2006 the gavel came down at $99,843.

Margaret’s jewelry collection was spectacular, including the Poltimore Tiara, Grima brooch, and the Lotus Tiara (although she returned that one to the royal vaults, where it can now be spotted on Kate Middleton) and pieces like this bracelet don’t come up for auction frequently.
