Once the brand took off, Julia sold it for a hefty amount. She then went on to serve as the creative director for La Perla, an Italian fashion house that specializes in lingerie.
Pretty sure she made a decent salary for designing so many garments: “For example, this last season I had 250 ready-to-wear pieces, but then I had probably 3,000 or 4,000 lingerie pieces, and probably a couple hundred beachwear pieces. So you do the math,” Julia told The Cut back in 2018. (My head hurts just trying.)
Julia’s projects are set to grow even more in the next few months.
Julia revealed that she has massive plans for new fashion lines in the coming months. “We launched e1972 two weeks before the pandemic hit,” she says. “So, we hit pause on that, obviously, and we’ll launch it again next year.”
Fans of My Unorthodox Life get a peek at some of her new product lines in the show, notably her colorful shapewear, but that’s just the beginning of her latest foray into fashion. “In terms of the shapewear, that’s going to be coming to stores and online in the next few weeks, and it’s something I’m really excited about,” Julia says. If her shapewear line is anything like Kim Kardashian’s Skims, it could grow to be valued at half a billion dollars, per Forbes.
“The next season we’re going to do bathing suits,” she added. “I also have shoes coming out, but I don’t want to spoil that.”

But Julia’s biggest venture will be e1972’s new line of sizeless clothing (yep, you read that right). “Women are beautiful—period, end of story. It’s not this size or that size, it’s your size,” she tells WH. “Basically, all you have to do is sit in your bed, you move your phone from your head down to your waist, those measurements are sent to us and we will make you a ready to made, totally customized to your size garment that will be shipped to your home. So you literally have a couture piece of clothing that you ordered from your bedroom.”
Looks like the sky’s the limit for Julia (and her fortune).
